HC3000 Home Theater Projector |
|
November
2005 -- Projector Central -- "The
Mitsubishi HC3000 home theater projector, one of
the most highly anticipated new product releases of the
season...has attracted a great deal of attention for two
reasons: (1) it is the first DLP projector with native 720p
HD resolution to come through the magic $3,000 price barrier,
and (2) it is the first DLP projector to come to market
featuring Texas Instrument's new BrilliantColor
technology. The HC3000 is a another step forward in
DLP price/performance, and it delivers a lot of picture
for the money. One of the distinctive features of the HC3000
is its native resolution of 1280x768... (and) native 15:9
aspect ratio rather than 16:9. The other unique feature
of the HC3000 is the BrilliantColor technology from Texas
Instruments. As announced by TI and reported here previously,
BrilliantColor consists of a new color processing chipset
and a new color wheel design that includes filters for both
the three primary and three complementary colors
red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, and yellow. However, in
this particular implementation, Mitsubishi has used TI's
new BrilliantColor chipset and adapted it for use
with a conventional six-segment RGB-RGB color wheel rotating
at a 4x speed. When BrilliantColor is activated, the picture
becomes immediately brighter. Blacks and shadow values remain
perceptibly unchanged while midtones and highlights increase
in luminance by about 25%. All colors increase in luminance
by the same ratio, and gray values do as well. Regardless
of whether BrilliantColor is activated or not, the HC3000
manifests the classic dynamic range that DLP technology
has become famous for. In terms of overall image quality,
the HC3000 is one of the best values on the market as far
as DLP projectors are concerned." Evan

HC100U Projector |
April
2005--Projector Central--"The HC100 stands out
in many ways...rated at a maximum of 1300 lumens...one
of the brightest 854x480 projectors available... The HC100
uses Texas Instrument's DLP DarkChip2, which delivers
superb contrast and solid, deep black level... Color performance
is top-notch, even straight out of the box. In sRGB mode...(the
HC100) delivers a well-saturated picture that adheres almost
perfectly to NTSC color standards without requiring calibration.
The onboard motion-adaptive deinterlacing capability
is one of the HC100's strongest suits. Rapid motion in even
the most difficult scenes was handled with minimal artifacts.
480-line NTSC DVD material can be displayed with exceptional
sharpness and clarity. The HC100's scaling of high definition
material exceeded our expectations. With 720p or 1080i signal,
the unit compresses the signals cleanly. Despite its low resolution,
the HC100's HDTV performance is impressive and competitive
with higher-resolution projectors. The HC100's performance
with video game systems is excellent." Bill Livolsi* |

XD450U Projector |
| December
2004 Projector Central "Mitsubishi has
been building projectors as well as plasmas, big-screen TVs
and other video products for many years now. They've got a
lot of engineering and marketing depth in video systems and
their products are always noteworthy. However, from time to
time they come up with a product that makes you recall, say,
Johnny Damon's grand slam that put the Red Sox into the World
Series. That product is the XD450U. Consider this:
the XD450U is rated at a super bright 2600 ANSI lumens,
and a high contrast of 2200:1. It has DVI input
with HDCP. It has low fan noise. It has a sealed light
engine with no air filtersÑwhich means no filters to change
or clean every month or two. That combined with a 5000-hour
lamp in eco-mode makes this just about the most maintenance-free
projector ever built. Warranty? How about a three-year
warranty, including a full one-year warranty on the lamp
instead of the typical 90 days? But beyond all that XD450U
has a DLP-based XGA resolution light engine that produces
excellent video quality as well as superb data display.
Put that all together...and you have the closest thing to
a grand slam that we see in the projector industry."

October
2004"I
think the H77 outperforms the H76 in a side-by-side comparison.
In National Projector's demonstration room, it was evident
that the 3500:1 high contrast ratio really
makes a difference, and although it has a slightly lower
lumen rating than the H76, the high contrast more than takes
up the slack. This projector is perfect for a dedicated
home theater room.
The H77 is designed attractively, as well, with a no-frills
chassis that screams simplicity and sophistication.
With a 3,000-hour lamp, I expect the **
will last longer than other projectors I've seen; and I
also noticed that it runs so quietly that I hardly noticed
it. Overall, I'd definitely recommend the ** to my friends,
because it performs as well as it looks." Ladeena

PLV-70 LCD Projector |
|
January
2004"The
Sanyo PLV-70 native widescreen LCD projector is a top class
model offering fantastic picture quality for home theatre
applications. Very high performance LCD projector with a
super high native resolution of 1366 x 768 and a very bright
2200 lumens you'll get great looking movies with
virtually no pixelation. The reason for this is that for
16:9 material on the PLV-70 has almost double the number
of pixels of a standard XGA resolution projector. In addition,
the microlens array technology used on the PLV-70 to boost
the light output of the engine also slightly softens the
pixel structure. The 900:1 contrast ratio is very good and
you get great detail in even the most gloomy scenes
in movies. The Sanyo PLV-70 is also bright enough to be
used in a well lighted room. Color saturation and accuracy
is this LCD projector's strong point and you'll find colors
bright and clear without being abnormal in any way. This
LCD projector is one of the best performers we've ever seen
in terms of color quality. An extra bonus in the Sanyo PLV-70
is its scaling and deinterlacing. The on-board hardware
for these functions are top of the line. Even plain S-video
from a cheap DVD player is obviously artifact-free. If you
want to save some money and do without a high end DVD player
then the Sanyo PLV-70 will certainly give you great results
from any signal you throw at it." LCD-Projector-Review
