You
will also want to consider the resolution of the projector;
it's always a good idea to match the resolution of the
projector with the video resolution of the computer and
other components that will be used. There are two major
types to consider: SVGA and XGA. SVGA, which stands for
Standard Video Graphics Array, has a resolution of 800x600.
That means the image is 800 pixels wide by 600 pixels
vertical for a total of 480,000 pixels. XGA stands for
Extended Graphis Array and has a resolution of 1025x768,
which means it is 1024 pixels wide by 768 vertical for
a total of 786,432 pixels. LCD projectors have three LCD
panels, red, green and blue so you need to multiply the
total number by three to get the actual total number of
pixels. Therefore, SVGA would be 1,440,000 and XGA would
be 2,305,296. DLP projectors are a little different but
the resolution for SVGA and XGA is the same; however,
the total pixel count is less because they use a single
DLP chip.
